It’s been big news lately, that the Bishop of Rome, Benedict XVI has launched an opportunistic effort to seduce disgruntled Anglican churchmen back to Rome, as the Church of England is debating women’s ordination to the episcopate. It’s a slimy thing to do, even for the See of Rome, and hopefully ++Rowan Williams (Archbishop of Canterbury) will make an appropriate response to Benedict’s snakiness. but on the lighter side, Stephen Colbert has a hilarious take on the whole situation:

Lately, my favorite thing to do online is to read the blogs of my fellow Anglicans, Episcopalians, Catholics… so I’m joining the fray, with my new blog, tentatively entitled Ite, missa est. Translated, it means ‘Go, it is the dismissal,’ but it’s also the Latin phrase from which the word ‘mass’ is derived, so until I think of something better, that’s what I’m sticking with. I should have a few posts right off, and hopefully I’ll be able to keep on top enough to really contribute to the Anglican conversation on the interwebs. Anyhow… enjoy.
